General Tso Sauce
ingredients
* 1/2 cup chicken broth or water
* 3 tablespoons soy sauce
* 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
* 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
* 2 tablespoons brown sugar
* 1 tablespoon cornstarch
* 1 tablespoon sesame oil
* 2 cloves garlic, minced
* 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced
* 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
method
1. In a bowl, whisk together chicken broth, soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, and cornstarch until smooth.
2. In a small saucepan, heat sesame oil over medium heat.
3. Add garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using). Sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
4. Pour in the sauce mixture and bring to a simmer, stirring constantly.
5. Cook for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
6. Remove from heat and let cool slightly before using.

Storage Information:
Let the sauce cool completely, then store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Reheat gently before serving.
